Music Box Film is the result of a creative collaboration between Athens-based, visual artists DEN and Berlin-based, musician Yaporigami. This piece is inspired by the fluid dynamics of abstract Japanese calligraphy to visualise the textural beauty of the sound. It explores the fluid grace of the ink and the complexity of its particle movements, digitizing them into 3D objects, and sculpting those into powerful motion graphic content that is generated real-time. Visual algorithms study the abstraction of the ink on paper and use its dynamics to reproduce similarly abstract expressionism on 3D space, using the gestures in the sound design as the brush to produce calligraphy in constant motion, a music box film.
